LLM/MLLM Algorithm Engineer – Global E-Commerce

About the role

ByteDance’s e‑commerce AI team is looking for an Algorithm Engineer to design and deploy large language models (LLM/MLLM) tailored for e‑commerce scenarios. The role bridges cutting‑edge AI research with real‑world product governance, ensuring high‑quality merchant, product, and content experiences across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Build domain‑specific large language models for e‑commerce, integrating business knowledge to accelerate deployment.
• Optimize algorithms for merchant, product, video, live‑stream, and IPR governance, creating intelligent review systems that explain rejection decisions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate governance requirements into model improvements and monitor ecosystem health.
• Conduct experiments, evaluate model performance, and iterate to achieve state‑of‑the‑art results in NLP, CV, and multimodal domains.
• Contribute to the overall quality and risk mitigation of ByteDance’s e‑commerce products.

Required profile

• Professional level with proven experience in AI/ML algorithm development.
• Strong background in large‑scale model training and evaluation, especially in NLP or multimodal contexts.
• Ability to understand e‑commerce governance scenarios and translate them into algorithmic solutions.
• Collaborative mindset to work closely with product, operations, and risk teams.
