Maritime Training & Learning Development Manager

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Manager to lead maritime training and learning initiatives for seafaring personnel. The role focuses on aligning training programmes with operational needs and regulatory standards while fostering career development for our crew.

Key responsibilities

• Lead maritime training and development initiatives for seafaring personnel.
• Develop and maintain competency frameworks, training matrices and learning plans for shipboard roles.
• Coordinate mandatory, technical, safety and professional development training in line with maritime regulations and company standards.
• Collaborate with Marine HR, Fleet, Technical and Safety teams to identify training needs and capability gaps.
• Support career development and promotion readiness for seafarers through structured learning programmes.
• Manage external training providers, maritime academies and other learning partners.
• Promote the use of e‑learning, simulation, Workday Learning and other digital training tools.
• Monitor training completion, competency development and programme effectiveness using learning data and feedback.
• Ensure training records are accurate, up‑to‑date and ready for audits or compliance reviews.
• Manage the training budget and recommend improvements to programmes, processes and resources.

Required profile

• Degree in Maritime Studies, Human Resources, Learning & Development, Business, Marine Engineering or related discipline; maritime professional qualifications are a plus.
• At least 7 years of experience in maritime training, seafarer development, Marine HR, Learning & Development or competency management.
• Good knowledge of maritime training and regulatory requirements, including STCW; exposure to TMSA and shipboard competency development preferred.
• Experience in training needs analysis, competency frameworks, training programmes and LMS platforms.
