Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to own the physical systems that enable reliable robot operations in real‑world environments. You will shape how robots are built, deployed, maintained, and iterated, working across mechanisms, structures, thermal and environmental design, prototyping, and manufacturing readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Design and refine the core mechanical architecture for global robot deployments.
• Develop mechanisms and structures for teleoperation hardware, operator stations, field accessories, and robot‑integrated tooling.
• Architect mechanical interfaces between robots, payloads, sensors, and deployment environments (mounting, sealing, vibration, ingress, service access).
• Build robust layouts and assemblies that ensure stable telemetry, sensing, and calibration.
• Translate field failures, wear patterns, and service feedback into durable product improvements.
• Drive reliability, manufacturability, weight, cost, and serviceability across the hardware stack.
• Collaborate with robotics, autonomy, electrical, and operations teams to align mechanical choices with product and fleet goals.

Required profile

• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping hardware to production or near‑production.
• Experience in mechanism design, structural design, DFM/DFA, tolerancing, and reliability engineering for dynamic systems.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Onshape, and hands‑on experience with drawings, BOMs, and vendor engagement.
• Ability to design robust, manufacturable assemblies that withstand shock, dust, temperature extremes, and misuse.
• Comfortable owning messy, cross‑functional problems from concept through validation and ramp‑up.
