Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Agilent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of automation solutions used across its manufacturing sites. The role involves creating concepts, detailed designs, prototypes, and tests while ensuring compliance with corporate standards and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mechanical architecture, component placement, and platform standardization for automation systems.
• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models, manage CAD databases, and generate BOMs for procurement.
• Perform component sizing, calculations, and selection for mechanisms, plastics, sheet‑metal, and electro‑mechanical parts.
• Lead mechanical cost estimation and serve as the primary estimator for BOM costs.
• Conduct mechanical tests, characterizations, cyclic and reliability testing, and document results.
• Collaborate with internal cross‑functional teams and external suppliers, design partners, and contract manufacturers.
• Generate and coordinate mechanical design‑related test cases and ensure designs meet project scope.
• Perform root‑cause analysis during development and sustainment phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of mechanical design experience in factory automation.
• Proven ability to lead projects, communicate effectively, and work independently.
• Willingness to travel globally to Agilent sites as project needs dictate.
