Mechanical Manager (Water/Wastewater)

About the role

The Mechanical Manager will lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater treatment plants, overseeing concepts through detailed engineering. This senior technical specialist works independently, applying advanced engineering techniques to deliver reliable process systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept, functional, preliminary and detailed designs for mechanical process systems, including screening, chemical, biological, blower, odour control, disinfection and sludge treatment plants.
• Design pumping, chemical feed, ventilation and drainage systems for water, wastewater and sludge treatment facilities.
• Prepare general arrangement and equipment layout drawings, and produce mechanical equipment and pump specifications.
• Perform pipe sizing, mechanical calculations and review vendor submissions.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, building services and instrumentation & control designers.
• Lead meetings with clients, contractors and vendors, and provide engineering support for bids, construction, testing and commissioning.
• Generate project cost estimates and manage design and project delivery for mechanically‑focused scopes.

Required profile

• Professional Engineer (PE) registered with the Professional Engineers Board Singapore or Chartered Engineer.
• University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10‑15 years of experience in mechanical design of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants.
• Proven ability to work independently, meet project timelines and lead a team of engineers.
• Strong written and oral communication with good interpersonal skills.
