Mobile Software Engineer – Messaging (iOS/Android)

About the role

Join TikTok's Messaging team to build the next generation of mobile chat experiences. You will work on core features such as chatrooms, stickers, streaks, and real‑time voice and video calls, helping users connect and share moments directly from their smartphones.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and iterate client‑side (Android & iOS) components of TikTok Messaging, including chatroom, stickers, and streak features.
• Design and optimize real‑time voice and video call capabilities and the on‑device IM infrastructure (IMSDK, data management).
• Explore AI‑powered tools to improve development efficiency, code quality, and cross‑platform consistency.
• Continuously improve client performance, stability, package size, and resource consumption to enhance user experience.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong learning ability, communication skills, and sustained passion for technology.
• Excellent logical analysis and system abstraction skills; able to understand and debug large, complex codebases.
• Good team communication and collaboration abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one mobile development stack: iOS (Objective‑C, Swift) or Android (Kotlin, Java).
• Familiarity with AI coding tools.
• Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
• Experience with client‑side IM infrastructure (e.g., IMSDK) and real‑time communication features.
