Principal Quality Engineer – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Principal Quality Engineer to lead quality initiatives across manufacturing operations in Singapore. The role combines hands‑on problem solving with data‑driven methodologies to ensure product and process excellence throughout the lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Drive product, process, supplier and operational quality across the manufacturing lifecycle.
• Design, implement and maintain inspection, testing and quality‑control methodologies for production equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T and manufacturing standards to support qualification and validation activities.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Design Engineering, Supply Chain and Global Quality teams to reduce defect escapes, rework, scrap and qualification cycle time.
• Lead structured problem‑solving, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action processes for internal and customer escalations.
• Apply data analytics and continuous‑improvement tools to improve cycle time and cost of poor quality.

Required profile

• Hands‑on technical background with extensive experience in quality engineering for high‑tech manufacturing.
• Strong ability to work across global functions and influence cross‑functional teams.
• Proven track record of using data‑driven methods to solve complex manufacturing problems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical findings into actionable improvements.
