Principal Solution Architect

About the role

The Principal Solution Architect provides organisation‑wide technology and architecture leadership, turning business and executive priorities into scalable technology strategies, architecture blueprints and engineering capabilities. This senior role defines the architectural direction and engineering foundations needed to deliver secure, high‑performing software across cloud, private‑cloud and on‑premises environments.

Key responsibilities

• Translate executive and business objectives into multi‑year technology and architecture roadmaps.
• Define organisation‑wide architecture principles, reference architectures and software blueprints for cloud, private‑cloud and on‑premises solutions.
• Ensure architectures support scalability, modularity, performance, resilience, security and long‑term maintainability.
• Serve as the senior architectural authority for high‑complexity initiatives, reviewing and approving major technology decisions.
• Establish and institutionalise software engineering standards, governance processes and design review mechanisms.
• Drive adoption of modern Agile, DevSecOps and engineering practices across development teams.
• Define and develop reusable frameworks, common components and architecture patterns that accelerate delivery.
• Mentor architects and engineers, building internal capability and reducing reliance on external delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering secure, scalable software across cloud, private‑cloud and on‑premises environments.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to set architectural direction and influence senior stakeholders.
• Track record of establishing engineering standards, governance and reusable platforms.
• Experience mentoring technical teams and building internal engineering capability.
