Principal Solution Architect

About the role

DHL Express is looking for a Principal Solution Architect to define and implement solution architectures across one or more IT sub‑domains. The role bridges business requirements with the Express IT Target Architecture, ensuring cost‑effective, low‑complexity solutions while collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain solution architectures that meet business needs and align with IT and security standards.
• Guide projects through the full lifecycle – from inception, design, testing, technology selection to deployment.
• Manage vendor architects and ensure their designs conform to DHL’s architectural guidelines.
• Author Solution Architecture Statements and System Requirement Statements.
• Review and approve detailed design, testing, and deployment documentation.
• Promote reuse of existing assets and enforce governance and security touchpoints.
• Communicate architectural decisions to stakeholders and provide guidance during implementation.
• Provide feedback to Enterprise Architecture on best practices and constraints.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
• Extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise‑scale solutions.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional IT teams and external partners.
• Strong understanding of IT governance, security standards and architectural frameworks.
