Radiology Nurse

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Radiology Nurse to join our imaging department. The role involves direct patient care, preparation for imaging and interventional procedures, and close collaboration with radiologists, radiographers and anaesthetists.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient care, counselling, consent and education for imaging and procedures.
• Prepare patients for scans, including cannulation and contrast administration.
• Assist radiologists during interventional radiology procedures and monitor patients throughout.
• Coordinate anaesthetist and day‑surgery bookings for planned procedures.
• Chaperone and support radiologists/radiographers during examinations.
• Ensure equipment readiness, maintain medication and medical supplies, and perform routine checks of essential equipment such as blood‑pressure machines and emergency trolleys.
• Maintain patient safety, infection‑control standards and clinical quality throughout the radiology workflow.
• Facilitate smooth coordination between patients, radiology staff and other clinical teams.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Nursing with a valid registration and practising certificate.
• 3–5 years of nursing experience, preferably in radiology, interventional radiology, day surgery or a similar setting.
• Experience in patient preparation, cannulation, contrast administration and assisting interventional procedures.
• Strong knowledge of patient safety, infection control and clinical standards.
• Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to clinical emergencies.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a patient‑centred approach.
• BLS/ACLS certification; additional radiology/interventional nursing training is an advantage.
