Research Associate – Computer Vision & AI

About the role

The College of Computing & Data Science at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Associate to contribute to cutting‑edge projects in computer vision, machine learning, physical AI and spatial AI. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, you will work within the Physical Vision Group to develop algorithms, data pipelines and experimental evaluations that support the creation of general‑purpose physical simulators and intelligent spatial systems.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research: process data, develop methods, build and empirically evaluate computer vision and machine learning algorithms.
• Author peer‑reviewed conference papers and present findings at meetings.
• Engineer software based on research outcomes and maintain the group’s web resources.
• Manage academic and administrative activities related to the project.
• Adapt existing techniques and develop new experimental protocols.
• Test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from diverse sources.
• Contribute ideas for new research projects and proposals to generate research income.
• Perform any other duties appropriate to the role.

Required profile

• Relevant Master’s degree in Computer Science.
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of deep and statistical learning methodologies.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for publications and presentations.
• Independent, highly analytical, proactive and a collaborative team player.
• Demonstrated strong publication record in top computer vision and machine learning venues.
