Research Associate – Mechanical, Biomedical & Materials Engineering

About the role

The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) at NTU seeks a highly motivated Research Associate to advance additive manufacturing, computational design, and biomaterials research. The role focuses on designing, fabricating, and validating advanced 3‑D printed structures and biomedical devices, including porous scaffolds and patient‑specific solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research in additive manufacturing, computational design, biomaterials, and biomedical engineering.
• Design and optimise three‑dimensional printed structures using CAD, numerical modelling, data‑driven optimisation, and AI‑assisted methods.
• Develop and characterise bioactive polymeric, ceramic, or composite materials for tissue‑engineering applications.
• Plan and execute additive manufacturing experiments, including process optimisation, mechanical testing, structural characterisation, and biological evaluation.
• Analyse experimental data and prepare technical reports, journal publications, and research presentations.
• Collaborate with researchers, students, clinicians, and industrial partners on interdisciplinary projects.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Experience in additive manufacturing, computational design, and biomaterials or tissue‑engineering applications.
• Proven record of publications in relevant research areas.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
