Research Associate (Psychology and Child & Human Development)

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is hiring a Research Associate on a 12-month contract within its Psychology and Child & Human Development department. The project, titled Building Human Capacity in Singapore's Population: A National Longitudinal Study of Child and Maternal Well-being, examines the role of parents in children's transition from preschool to primary school.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out participant recruitment for the project.
• Manage the data collection schedule for the research team.
• Participate in the training of student research assistants.
• Carry out fieldwork, data coding and analysis.
• Take part in manuscript preparation and the dissemination of study findings.
• Handle other responsibilities related to project management.

Required profile

• A Master's degree from a reputable institution specialising in psychology or a related field.
• Good knowledge of child development theories and research.
• Prior experience working with parents and children is highly preferred.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, able to act as a liaison between families and preschools and to lead and train a team of student assistants in fieldwork and data collection.
