Research Fellow - Advanced MRAM Technology

About the role

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, is seeking a Research Fellow to join Professor Lew Wen Siang's laboratory. The project focuses on developing advanced MRAM technology for artificial intelligence memory and smart sensing.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance MRAM devices for advanced computing memory applications.
• Liaise with international semiconductor companies, research institutes and foundry partners to manage project activities.
• Prepare technical write-ups for quarterly industry press releases on the joint development programme.
• Perform physical vapour deposition (PVD) of MRAM structures on 300 mm wafers using the ULVAC Entron system.
• Coordinate with circuit designers and foundries on CMOS front-end wafer development and back-end-of-line integration.
• Conduct MRAM electrical transport measurements with probe stations and bonded memory chips, including endurance and retention reliability tests.
• Fabricate MRAM devices using optical and/or electron-beam lithography, and process them with ICP-RIE and/or ion milling.
• Analyse structural, electrical and materials characterisation results (SEM, XRD, TEM).

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant field of physical sciences or engineering.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience, including PhD research in non-volatile memory or a closely related area.
• Strong experience in semiconductor wafer-level device development.
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines and communicate technical results to academic and industry stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in semiconductor processing techniques for advanced memory device fabrication.
• Good programming skills; device modelling or simulation experience is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and data visualisation skills.
