Research Fellow – Decarbonization Analysis

About the role

The Energy Studies Institute at the National University of Singapore is seeking a Research Fellow to lead decarbonisation analysis across regional energy systems. You will contribute to high‑impact research that informs policy and industry decisions on low‑carbon technologies and green energy supply chains.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical and policy reviews of global energy and decarbonisation trends through desk research.
• Perform system‑level analyses, including technology assessment, emissions monitoring, pathway modelling and optimisation for Singapore and the broader Asian region.
• Engage with stakeholders, present findings, and support knowledge‑exchange events.
• Organise seminars, workshops and conferences, and handle other administrative duties as assigned.

Required profile

• PhD in engineering, science, economics, management science or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in energy, environmental issues, decarbonisation strategies and energy security.
• Demonstrated research experience in life‑cycle assessment, emissions accounting or energy‑systems modelling (preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with data‑analysis tools such as Python, Matlab and Stata.
