About the role
The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing at NTU seeks a highly motivated Research Fellow in Mechanical Engineering to advance robotics‑enabled additive manufacturing of wood‑polymer composites. You will work on material development, process optimisation and large‑scale 3D printing for sustainable applications in furniture and manufacturing.
Key responsibilities
- Design, synthesize and characterise composite materials for extrusion, DLP, SLA and DIW platforms.
- Program robot arms, plan printing paths and optimise parameters for robotic AM systems.
- Evaluate rheological, thermal and mechanical properties and assess structural performance.
- Perform finite‑element simulations to predict material behaviour.
- Conduct 3D printing experiments to verify printability and functional performance.
- Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary researchers in materials science and mechanical engineering.
- Prepare scientific manuscripts, presentations and technical reports.
- Supervise junior team members and contribute to proposal writing.
Required profile
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- At least one year of hands‑on experience in additive manufacturing.
- Experience with robotic systems, material formulation or composite development is preferred.
- Familiarity with mechanical testing, microstructural and surface topography characterisation.
