Senior Associate, Transaction Surveillance Unit, Group Compliance

About the role

The Group Legal, Compliance & Secretariat unit protects the bank's interests by safeguarding its reputation and capital, maintaining a good standing with regulators, customers and business partners, and upholding trust and integrity. This Senior Associate position sits in the Transaction Surveillance Unit within Group Compliance, based at DBS Asia Central.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and assess alerts for potential money laundering risk in the Bank.
• Ensure efficient identification and monitoring of suspicious activities and transactions, and timely escalation to the relevant parties.
• Prepare, review and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and report suspicious transactions to the authorities on time.
• Assist with money laundering-related queries or escalations from business units.
• Liaise with other compliance units and businesses on surveillance issues.
• Participate in and assist with transaction surveillance projects.
• Carry out ad-hoc duties such as providing statistics, ensuring data accuracy and extracting documents for audit review.
• Keep up to date with money laundering and terrorist financing issues, including policies, procedures, regulations, industry best practice, criminal typologies and emerging trends.
• Support Team Leaders and Managers, help meet team KPIs and targets, and mentor team members.

Required profile

• Background in institutional banking.
• Degree in a related field.
• Relevant compliance, risk management or operations experience.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and resourceful.

Required skills

• Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel) is essential.
• An eye for detail, with good analytical, communication and written skills.
