Senior Backend Engineer - Recommendation

Join Shopee's Recommendation Team to design and build high‑performance backend systems that power personalized shopping experiences. You will work on cutting‑edge technologies, ensuring scalability, availability, and fast iteration for product and business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the design and development of Shopee’s core backend recommendation systems, enabling rapid product iteration.
• Optimize performance of online serving engines, recall/ranking modules, and offline data pipelines to improve system efficiency.
• Abstract and refine reusable components and services, contributing to a centralized recommendation platform for business expansion.
• Research industry trends in recommendation technologies and integrate advanced solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience with personalized recommendation, search, or ad recommendation systems.
• Strong foundation in data structures and software development; proficient in Linux.
• Expertise in C++ or Golang and designing high‑concurrency architectures.
• Excellent communication, proactive attitude, and strong sense of ownership.
• Self‑driven, resilient, and passionate about experimentation and business breakthroughs.
• Willingness to tackle challenging tasks and commit effort to excel.
