Senior Privacy Counsel – APAC

About the role

Adyen is expanding its Global DPO Office in Singapore and seeks a Senior Privacy Counsel to lead privacy work across the APAC region. You will adapt the company’s global privacy framework to a fast‑evolving regulatory landscape, enabling responsible growth in key commercial markets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pragmatic privacy advice to product, engineering, commercial, HR and corporate teams across APAC.
• Adapt and extend Adyen’s global privacy policies to meet regional requirements, establishing a scalable baseline.
• Guide compliance with major regimes such as Singapore’s PDPA, India’s DPDPA, Japan’s APPI, Australia’s Privacy Act and Hong Kong’s PDPO, including cross‑border data flows and localization.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments, data‑protection impact assessments and maintain records of processing activities for APAC initiatives.
• Draft, review and negotiate privacy terms in commercial contracts and vendor agreements.
• Monitor legislative developments, translate them into internal policies and support incident response.
• Provide AI‑governance advice and develop region‑specific privacy training and resources.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in a Commonwealth jurisdiction with 7+ years of data‑privacy experience, including GDPR and APAC regimes.
• Hands‑on expertise in at least two APAC privacy frameworks (e.g., PDPA, DPDPA, APPI, PDPO, PIPL) and knowledge of cross‑border data‑transfer requirements.
• Experience building or scaling an in‑house privacy program; law‑firm background is a plus.
• Proven ability to partner with engineering, product, compliance and risk teams and engage with regulators.
• Fintech or payments industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Fluent English, able to work from the Singapore office and travel periodically.
