Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer
StraitsX · Singapore
Job description
About the role
StraitsX is hiring a Senior Regulatory Compliance Officer in Singapore, reporting to the Deputy Head of Compliance. The team ensures that each licensed entity meets its regulatory obligations and acts as the main link between the business and regulators, auditors and banking partners. Responsibilities shift over time; in the first year the focus is on audit and inspection liaison, regulatory change and partner due diligence.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the main contact for internal and external audits and banking partner inspections, coordinating evidence requests and drafting management responses.
- Run pre-audit mock reviews and manage the central issue tracking log so audit findings are fixed on time.
- Project manage regulatory change initiatives across business, product and tech teams so new compliance controls are built and deployed.
- Track new MAS notices, guidelines and circulars and brief senior management on their impact.
- Work with the Financial Crime Compliance team on gap analyses (e.g. MAS PSN01/2) and corrective action plans.
- Review new products and material business changes and advise stakeholders on regulatory requirements and risks.
- Answer due diligence questionnaires from banks and review vendor onboarding and periodic reviews.
- Oversee regulatory obligation and policy registers and help prepare the enterprise-wide ML/TF risk assessment.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Banking, Finance, Business or a related field.
- 5+ years of regulatory compliance experience in a MAS-regulated financial institution, payment firm, bank or audit/advisory firm.
- Proven track record of driving regulatory implementation projects from gap analysis to rollout across business, product and tech teams.
- Exceptional writing skills, able to draft gap analyses, management papers and regulatory responses for senior leadership on the first attempt.
- Highly organised, able to handle multiple concurrent deliverables and coordinate cross-functional peers without direct reporting lines.
Required skills
- Deep understanding of the Payment Services Act (PSA) and relevant MAS notices, especially on AML/CFT, technology risk, outsourcing and regulatory reporting.
- Hands-on experience managing regulatory returns, implementing regulatory changes and engaging directly with MAS.
