Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend subsystems that power industry‑leading DNA sequencing instruments.
• Take ownership of features and components from design through production, delivering high‑quality solutions.
• Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and development best practices.
• Design for reliability, observability, and performance, making deliberate trade‑offs across architectural attributes.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence through proposals, reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with scientists, domain experts, and cross‑functional partners across the US and Singapore to translate complex genomics problems into robust software solutions.

Required profile

• Strong experience designing and building APIs and services, proficient in C# or Python, or a demonstrated ability to learn them quickly.
• Good working knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly in design docs, code reviews, and cross‑functional discussions.
• Passion for raising the engineering capabilities of the team through proactive learning, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
• Curious, analytical, and comfortable diving into unfamiliar domains such as genomics, bioinformatics, or instrument control.
