Senior/Resident Physician

About the role

You will join a well‑established healthcare institution as a senior member of the medical team, providing leadership in patient care and ensuring smooth ward operations. The position involves significant clinical, supervisory and teaching duties, contributing to patient safety and the professional development of junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily clinical management and supervision of assigned wards, maintaining high standards of patient care.
• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnoses and management plans for routine and urgent referrals.
• Supervise, teach and mentor House Officers, Medical Officers and trainees, supporting their competency development.
• Respond to urgent and emergency referrals during on‑call and night duties, including after‑hours ward rounds.
• Escalate complex cases to the on‑call Consultant and provide timely updates on patient conditions.
• Prepare, review and endorse consultation and referral documentation, especially after‑hours.
• Compile and submit clinical and mortality reports in line with institutional and regulatory requirements.
• Represent the ward in medico‑legal proceedings or formal inquiries when required.
• Participate in departmental rounds, teaching sessions, clinical conferences and continuing medical education.
• Perform elective and emergency procedures within approved competency levels and guide junior doctors in basic operative skills.

Required profile

• Recognised postgraduate medical qualification with completion of basic specialist training.
• Several years of clinical experience after housemanship and medical officer postings in an acute healthcare setting.
• Registration with the Singapore Medical Council, including at least 1 year of housemanship and 3 years as a Medical Officer.

Required skills

• Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic capability.
• Ability to manage complex cases independently.
• Experience supervising and mentoring junior medical staff.
• Competence in performing elective and emergency procedures within approved limits.
