Software Engineer, Data Programme

About the role

GovTech is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Data Programme, which builds data assets and services that support policy making, service delivery and operations across the Singapore government. The role offers the chance to work on large‑scale data platforms that enable public agencies to make faster, data‑driven decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a unified data platform infrastructure for government agencies, including APIs for data ingestion, processing and storage.
• Create reusable components, templates and data connectors to integrate legacy systems.
• Build the central data discovery and access request portal (DataHive) with intuitive user interfaces and request‑management workflows.
• Design and implement standardized data delivery APIs, micro‑services and authentication/authorisation mechanisms for secure, high‑volume data access.
• Establish observability and governance tooling, such as data‑quality monitoring, lineage tracking, dashboards and automated validation frameworks.
• Write production‑quality code, manage cloud and occasional on‑premise deployments, and prototype new technology opportunities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, share knowledge, mentor junior engineers and contribute to recruiting efforts.
