Software Engineer – Fixed Term (1 year) – Singapore Government Projects

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join Activate’s Co‑Development Business Unit on a one‑year fixed‑term contract. The role will involve building and modernising digital services for Singapore’s Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) in partnership with GovTech.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy web and mobile applications for MSF programmes such as Case Central, ComLink+, and Early Childhood initiatives.
• Take ownership of features from requirements gathering through production support.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure security, maintainability and observability of services.
• Participate in quality engineering activities, including automated testing and code reviews.
• Contribute to DevOps processes and continuous integration pipelines where required.

Required profile

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and the ability to apply them pragmatically.
• Comfortable taking a problem from design to deployment and supporting it in production.
• Analytical mindset – investigate root causes and question assumptions.
• Ability to balance delivery timelines, security, cost and long‑term sustainability.
• Effective at working with ambiguous requirements and turning them into practical solutions.

Required skills

• Software development lifecycle experience (design, implementation, testing, deployment, support).
• Understanding of quality engineering principles and automated testing.
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts and CI/CD pipelines.
