Software Engineer, Payments

About the role

Stripe is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Payments team, the core product that processes trillions of dollars each year. You will work on building and scaling payment capabilities that power businesses worldwide, collaborating closely with engineering, product, and customer teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems that support Stripe's global payments network.
• Own end‑to‑end problem solving across a wide range of technologies and processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across Stripe’s global offices to deliver reliable, high‑performance features.
• Uphold and improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes across multiple codebases.

Required profile

• Passionate about solving real problems for real users and bridging technology with business needs.
• Comfortable diving deep into technical architecture while also engaging with customers to understand their challenges.
• Hands‑on collaborator who enjoys helping teammates grow and delivering elegant, scalable solutions.

Required skills

• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
• Experience working on projects involving multiple engineering teams.
• Strong communication, empathy, and a collaborative mindset.
