Software Engineer - Python

About the role

As a Python Engineer at Hudson River Trading you will build and maintain the core software that powers the firm’s trading operations. You will work on large‑scale distributed systems, tooling, and data pipelines that support everything from live‑trading monitoring to post‑trade analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve Python‑based tools and services used across all offices and departments.
• Enhance job orchestration, scheduling, and resource management for the company’s compute cluster.
• Create and maintain tooling for developers, hardware verification, and system automation.
• Design and implement ETL pipelines handling market data, images, and text.
• Deploy, automate, and monitor global trade‑management and post‑trade analysis systems.

Required profile

• Proven productivity and technical capability as a top developer in your current organization.
• Experience taking applications from design through production deployment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to read, understand, and improve existing code.
• Passion for tackling challenging problems and collaborating with researchers and engineers.

Required skills

• Deep experience with Python and modern Python standards.
• Proficiency in C++ for latency‑sensitive components.
• Solid knowledge of Linux/UNIX operating systems and system performance.
• Familiarity with distributed computing, job scheduling, and orchestration.
• Experience building ETL pipelines and automation tools.
