Software Engineer (Real Time Payments)

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Real‑Time Payments (RTP) program. You will help build and maintain mission‑critical payment platforms that enable instant, secure, and highly available account‑to‑account transactions across multiple markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy small to medium‑sized features or components following defined requirements and reference architectures.
• Apply approved architectural patterns such as microservices, event‑driven messaging, and APIs consistently.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while ensuring high code quality through automated unit and component tests.
• Participate in code reviews, identify defects, performance issues, and reliability gaps, and address them promptly.
• Implement observability, logging, metrics, and basic alerts to support production reliability and operational monitoring.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, contribute to design discussions, and document implementation decisions.
