Software Engineer – Resilience and Chaos Engineering

About the role

Intrinsic, Google’s AI robotics group, is looking for a Software Engineer to strengthen the stability and endurance of its robotics software platform. You will design and run automated resilience tests, simulate disruptive scenarios, and build observability tools that keep the system safe and predictable.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute automated resilience tests across service boundaries and hybrid (on‑premise & cloud) environments.
• Develop frameworks that simulate AI inference timeouts, high network latency, data‑pipeline congestion, and malformed inputs.
• Enhance the stability of APIs, SDKs, web interfaces, and cloud‑to‑edge communication layers.
• Collaborate with distributed teams in Singapore, Mountain View, and Munich to define global reliability standards.
• Create monitoring and observability tools to provide holistic system‑health insights.

Required profile

• 4‑year degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a distributed, multicultural team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Go, Python, or C++.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms.
• Knowledge of comprehensive testing strategies, including integration testing, fuzzing, and property‑based testing.
• Familiarity with build systems (e.g., Bazel) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Travis, Circle CI, Spinnaker, Terraform).
• Experience with GitHub‑based custom infrastructure and monorepo setups.
• Background in systems that involve physical hardware such as robots or industrial machinery.
