System Engineer – High Performance Computing (HPC)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced System Engineer specializing in High Performance Computing (HPC) to join our Singapore office. The role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining large‑scale Linux‑based HPC clusters that support research, academic, and enterprise workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and operate Linux‑based HPC clusters, including compute nodes, storage systems, and high‑speed networking.
• Manage job schedulers such as Slurm, PBS Pro, or LSF and parallel file systems like Lustre, GPFS/Spectrum Scale, and BeeGFS.
• Maintain data‑lake solutions (e.g., VAST) and hierarchical storage management tools (e.g., DMF).
• Perform system monitoring, patching, upgrades, capacity planning and troubleshoot hardware, software, OS, and network issues.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and provide escalation support for HPC incidents.
• Collaborate with software engineers to support AI/DL applications and assist desktop engineers and end‑users.
• Offer guidance to researchers on application development, debugging, optimization, and parallelisation.
• Deliver user training sessions and contribute to documentation and best‑practice guides.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Highly motivated, self‑driven and able to work collaboratively in a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Required skills

• Linux system administration (RHCSA certification preferred).
• Experience with HPC job schedulers: Slurm, PBS Pro, LSF.
• Knowledge of parallel file systems: Lustre, GPFS/Spectrum Scale, BeeGFS.
• Familiarity with data‑lake solutions (VAST) and hierarchical storage management (DMF).
• ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent.
