User Interface Designer

About the role

The Volunteer Management System project seeks a skilled User Interface Designer to shape the visual and interaction experience for coordinators, administrators, and volunteers. You will create intuitive, accessible interfaces that support core workflows across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design UI screens and end‑to‑end flows for key user journeys within the Volunteer Management System.
• Translate product requirements and research insights into concrete, usable interface designs.
• Develop consistent UI patterns and reusable components, contributing to the government design system where relevant.
• Plan, conduct, and analyze usability testing, turning findings into design improvements.
• Ensure all interfaces comply with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and apply inclusive design principles.
• Collaborate closely with Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineers to move designs from concept to implementation.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in UI or product design with a portfolio of shipped digital products.
• Strong visual design skills covering layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and interaction design for responsive and data‑heavy screens.
• Proven ability to communicate design rationale to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Figma, including componentisation and design tokens.
• Hands‑on experience with usability testing (planning, execution, and analysis).
• Practical knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and ARIA‑aware design.
