Head of Governance Unit – Performance & Evaluation

About the role

The Head of the Governance Unit within the Performance & Evaluation Directorate will lead a team of officers to support the Ministry of Finance in delivering high‑performance public services. This senior position focuses on strengthening financial governance, overseeing audit follow‑ups, and driving systemic improvements across the public sector.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and implement policies and processes that enhance public financial governance and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assess audit observations, propose corrective actions, and monitor implementation.
• Review proposals related to the formation or restructuring of statutory boards, providing informed recommendations.
• Strategise and lead Whole‑of‑Government (WOG) responses on governance matters.
• Identify and drive systemic changes with key partners to improve governance frameworks, capabilities, and culture.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accountancy, Business, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial, accounting or governance standards, or in programme/project planning, evaluation, or audit.
• Strong analytical thinking with the ability to anticipate challenges and devise actionable solutions.
• Innovative mindset capable of developing out‑of‑the‑box solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels.
• Self‑motivated, able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven leadership and team‑development abilities.
