Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Makerspace & Engineering

About the role

The institution seeks a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to lead its Makerspace initiatives, providing technical mentorship and fostering an inquiry‑driven learning environment for students, staff and start‑ups.

Key responsibilities

• Coach and mentor learners on engineering‑based projects, from concept through prototyping and testing.
• Design and deliver hands‑on workshops covering mechanical engineering, electronics, CAD, robotics and related topics.
• Manage Makerspace safety, maintain and calibrate tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, woodworking machines and soldering stations.
• Monitor inventory, recommend procurement, and ensure equipment readiness.
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate project‑based engineering work into curricula and develop new courses.
• Engage with industry partners for research, consultancy and outreach activities.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in mechanical, electronics, mechatronics engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional engineering experience.
• Hands‑on expertise with fabrication technologies and a strong commitment to safety.
• Experience in project‑based or inquiry‑based teaching approaches.
• Ability to work with diverse learners and support cross‑disciplinary projects.
