Medical Science Liaison – Therapeutic Area Expert

About the role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) acts as a scientific expert for a therapeutic area, fostering high‑quality, peer‑to‑peer exchanges with healthcare professionals. This position supports Johnson & Johnson’s Medical Affairs strategy by generating insights, aiding evidence generation, and building trusted relationships that ultimately improve patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain trust‑based scientific relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals.
• Deliver compliant, high‑quality scientific exchange on disease areas, clinical data, and treatment landscapes.
• Gather and synthesize medical insights from the field to inform strategy, evidence generation, and business decisions.
• Identify data gaps, educational needs, and opportunities for scientific engagement to support medical strategy.
• Lead and support medical education initiatives such as advisory boards, educational programmes, and scientific meetings.
• Contribute to evidence generation activities, including investigator‑initiated studies and local research collaborations.
• Review promotional and scientific materials to ensure accuracy, balance, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain full compliance with regulatory, ethical, and company policies while responding to scientific enquiries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or a related discipline; advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or research environment.
• Strong scientific knowledge with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data.
