Special Education Teacher

About the role

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for identifying, supporting, and monitoring students with special educational and learning needs across the school. The role involves delivering targeted interventions, counselling, and behavioural strategies while working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure inclusive learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Identify students requiring learning, behavioural, emotional, or developmental support through observations, referrals, assessments, and review meetings.
• Provide individualized and small‑group intervention based on each student’s learning profile.
• Develop and implement support strategies, accommodations, and intervention plans for students with SEN requirements.
• Monitor student progress, maintain records of interventions, and adjust plans as needed.
• Support students in developing self‑regulation, emotional resilience, social skills, executive functioning, and independent learning.
• Provide counselling and emotional support for academic, behavioural, or social‑emotional challenges.
• Interpret psycho‑educational assessments, therapist reports, and professional evaluations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Counselling, Inclusive Education, Child Development, or a related field.
• Relevant certification or professional qualification in SEN, Learning Support, Counselling, Inclusive Education, or Child Psychology.
• 3–7 years of experience working with students with diverse learning needs in a school setting.
• Experience with ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyspraxia, Global Developmental Delay, Anxiety, behavioural needs, and other learning differences.
• Understanding of inclusive education practices, child protection, safeguarding, and duty of care responsibilities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, parents, and leadership teams.
