Transplant Coordinator III

About the role

The Transplant Coordinator III oversees the full cycle of corneal donation, from donor identification to family support after recovery. This role works closely with medical teams, eye banks and regulatory bodies to ensure ethical and compliant donation processes.

Key responsibilities

• Identify suitable donors for cornea donation, conduct medico‑legal checks and review medical histories.
• Provide counselling and guidance to donors’ families throughout the donation journey.
• Liaise with the National Organ and Tissue Unit (MOH) and other stakeholders to ensure policy compliance.
• Coordinate recovery teams, assist with post‑recovery family support, and consider medical and biosocial factors for optimal outcomes.
• Educate healthcare staff, the public and families about eye donation and address misconceptions.
• Facilitate logistical arrangements for corneal procurement with medical teams, eye‑bank staff and other partners.
• Collect and input data for clinical audits, service evaluations and programme development.
• Perform on‑call donor screening coverage as required.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Psychology, Health Sciences or Biomedical Sciences, or equivalent.
• Counselling experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work in emotionally challenging situations.
• Willingness to travel between hospitals and work on‑call hours.
