APAC Tax Lead

About the role

Anthropic is hiring its first dedicated international tax professional for the Asia‑Pacific region, based in Singapore. Reporting to the Head of International Tax Operations, you will join a global tax team and support Anthropic’s rapid expansion across APAC.

Key responsibilities

• Lead APAC direct tax compliance, coordinating with external advisors (KPMG, PwC, Deloitte) to ensure timely and accurate filings in all jurisdictions.
• Support transfer‑pricing documentation and intercompany transactions, including cost‑plus arrangements and service agreements.
• Manage withholding tax positions and treaty relief for cross‑border cash flows, such as customer receipts and vendor payments.
• Advise on permanent establishment risks, entity structuring, and operational tax considerations as Anthropic expands commercial and infrastructure activities.
• Assist with tax aspects of regional infrastructure projects, including data‑center, colocation, subsea cable arrangements, and new entity formations.
• Partner with indirect‑tax teams on VAT/GST and consumption‑tax matters to align overall tax strategy.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and People teams on payroll taxes, equity compensation, and employee mobility.
• Build relationships with local tax authorities and handle inquiries or audits.
• Contribute to global tax initiatives such as public‑company readiness, SOX compliance, and tax‑technology implementations.

Required profile

• Strong technical knowledge of corporate tax in one or more major APAC jurisdictions and cross‑border tax issues.
• Deep experience with transfer‑pricing documentation, intercompany agreements, and withholding‑tax/treaty analysis.
• Professional qualification such as CPA, CA, CTA, or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across time zones with US and European colleagues.
• Self‑starter who thrives in ambiguity and can build processes from the ground up.
