Application Engineer – Cross‑Platform Desktop Apps

About the role

We are seeking an Application Engineer to own and ship the Jan desktop application across macOS, Windows, and Linux. You will work full‑stack, handling everything from architecture to packaging, ensuring a smooth experience for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the Jan desktop app using Tauri.
• Implement the front‑end with React and Node.js and the native layer with Rust.
• Manage packaging, installers, auto‑updates, code signing, and release pipelines.
• Provide first‑class Linux support, handling distribution across major distros.
• Integrate local model runtimes and other app features end‑to‑end.
• Operate in an agent‑native workflow, reviewing and guarding parallel execution agents.

Required profile

• Full‑stack engineer comfortable with React and Node.js.
• Hands‑on experience building and shipping Tauri applications.
• Working knowledge of Rust and cross‑platform desktop development.
• Strong Linux packaging and distribution skills.
• Proven ability to own app packaging, builds, and release pipelines.
