Associate/Full Professor – Optimization, Control & Scientific Computing

About the role

NTU Singapore’s College of Science is seeking an Associate or Full Professor in Optimization, Control and Scientific Computing. The tenured position involves leading world‑class research and delivering high‑quality teaching in applied mathematics.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in applied mathematics, optimisation, control and scientific computing.
• Establish a world‑class research programme focusing on algorithmic design, scientific computing and scientific machine learning.
• Secure competitive research funding from grant agencies and industry partners, particularly in AI and cloud‑computing sectors.
• Mentor and supervise graduate students, post‑doctoral researchers and research interns.
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration across mathematics, computer science and engineering departments.
• Contribute to the College’s visibility and reputation through publications, invited talks and professional service.
• Undertake essential administrative duties within the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

Required profile

• PhD in mathematics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong, peer‑reviewed research record with publications in top journals and conferences.
• Demonstrated experience supervising research staff, post‑docs and students.
• Recognition in the research community (e.g., invited talks, awards, professional society membership).
• Proven ability to obtain research grants and industry collaborations.
