Backend Engineer

About the role

WeChat is looking for a Backend Engineer to develop and maintain security processes and internal tools that protect millions of users worldwide. The role combines backend development, full‑stack web work, and collaboration with data, security, and DevOps teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test security‑related processes for WeChat users.
• Build and maintain internal platforms and tools using Node.js and compiled languages.
• Participate in requirements, solution formulation, and solution reviews.
• Write high‑quality code following best practices and ensure thorough testing.
• Identify, debug, and continuously improve system performance and stability.
• Create and keep technical documentation up to date.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, including data scientists, security engineers, and project managers.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of software development experience.
• Background in safety, risk control, or audits is a plus.
• Experience with full‑stack web development on a Node.js framework (Vue.js preferred).
• Proficiency with mainstream databases (MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL) and caching (Redis).
• Familiarity with middleware such as Kafka or other message queues.
• Development experience in a compiled language (Golang, C, C++, or Rust).
• Strong Linux troubleshooting skills (CPU, memory, network I/O).
• Excellent logical thinking, communication skills, and fluency in English and Mandarin.
