About the role

Apple’s Emerging Technologies team is building a world‑class perimeter security platform that protects mission‑critical services and applications. As a Backend Software Engineer you will design and develop the control plane, collaborating closely with data‑plane and cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑performance, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and implementation of low‑latency batch and real‑time data pipelines for massive security data.
• Architect, deploy, and scale resilient micro‑services and platform infrastructure for anti‑abuse engines.
• Champion a "You Build It, You Own It" culture by setting standards and ensuring end‑to‑end system health, performance, and operational readiness.
• Design robust automation, auto‑healing, chaos testing, and CI/CD pipelines to guarantee business continuity and rapid disaster recovery.
• Drive AI‑assisted development tool adoption and modern engineering practices to accelerate velocity and code quality.
• Design and optimise large‑scale NoSQL, relational, and in‑memory data architectures for real‑time risk evaluation and pattern matching.
• Define and implement enterprise‑grade observability, telemetry, and alerting strategies.

Required profile

• Self‑directed engineer with hands‑on coding experience.
• Proven expertise in building and tuning high‑performance services.
• Strong background in creating robust, scalable distributed systems.
