Big Data Engineer – Data Solutions

About the role

As a Big Data Engineer on TikTok's Ad Data team, you will help design, build, and operate large‑scale data pipelines that power advertising decisions for millions of users. You will collaborate with product managers, analysts, and engineers to deliver reliable, high‑performance data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with product managers and data analysts to design data‑related products.
• Communicate data needs across engineering, product, and analytics teams.
• Own data quality and expertise for assigned data domains.
• Design, develop, and launch new ETL processes in production.
• Maintain and support existing streaming and batch systems, handling on‑call incidents.
• Define and manage SLAs for all allocated data sets.
• Work with data infrastructure teams to triage and resolve infra issues.
• Assist junior engineers and contribute to daily project management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in data warehousing, custom ETL design, and SQL.
• At least 2 years working with big‑data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, or Spark.
• Experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++.
• Strong communication skills and ability to convey data‑driven insights.
