C++ Software Engineer - Data Platform

About the role

WorldQuant is building a distributed data platform that processes massive, structured time‑series datasets. The platform is written in modern C++ and combines high‑performance storage, compute, and service layers with real‑time streaming, RPC‑based data transfer, and columnar on‑disk storage.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core components of the distributed storage, compute, and service layers, including storage engines, query execution, RPC/networking, and distributed coordination.
• Collaborate with research and engineering teams to translate data‑access, compute, and performance requirements into concrete designs.
• Investigate and resolve production issues ranging from correctness bugs to performance regressions.
• Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, feature development, and productionization efforts.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and systems‑level concepts such as memory management, concurrency, and I/O.
• Proficiency in modern C++ (C++11 or higher) and comfort with the STL.
• Solid experience working in UNIX/Linux development environments.
• Experience using AI‑assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, OpenCode).
• Clear, proactive communication skills and ability to work with a globally distributed team.
