Café Operations Instructor / Aide

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Instructor/Instructor Aide to lead daily training in front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house café operations. You will work closely with trainees, ensuring they acquire the skills needed for safe, high‑quality food service and successful employment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily hands‑on training covering food preparation, cashiering, customer service, dishwashing and station setup.
• Implement Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and structured vocational teaching methods.
• Develop and maintain visual aids, SOPs, task sequences and checklists.
• Supervise trainees during live café service, monitoring safety, quality and service standards.
• Collaborate with the Production Team on pastries, baked goods and product‑based vocational training.
• Support trainees in meeting Standards of Work Performance (SWP) milestones and document progress.
• Uphold HALAL guidelines, food‑safety requirements and cleanliness standards.
• Participate in special events, catering, external exhibitions and work trials.
• Model the organization’s mission and promote successful employment outcomes.

Required profile

• Higher NITEC, Diploma or Degree in any discipline.
• Strong knowledge of café operations, food‑service, food preparation and hygiene practices.
• WSQ Food Hygiene certification.
• Experience training or coaching individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Understanding of PBIS (training can be provided).
• Ability to create visual aids, task analyses and structured training routines.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and customer‑service abilities.
• Flexibility to support café operations, events and production demands.
• Professional conduct in food‑service safety and service standards.

Required skills

• WSQ Food Hygiene certification
• Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
