Communications Manager – External Affairs

About the role

The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to lead external affairs communications. You will shape how the School’s research and expertise are presented to media, partners, and the public, turning complex policy work into compelling stories.

Key responsibilities

• Lead media relations and press strategy to secure coverage in local, regional and international outlets.
• Identify story angles, pitch journalists, and position faculty experts for interviews and commentary.
• Conceive, commission, write and edit thought‑leadership articles, op‑eds, research commentaries, newsletters and institutional reports.
• Manage the editorial calendar and coordinate production of key publications.
• Develop and oversee digital and multimedia content—including podcasts, videos, infographics and social‑media campaigns—to make policy ideas accessible.
• Collaborate with faculty, senior leadership and external partners to ensure consistent branding and messaging.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior communications professional, preferably in an academic or policy‑focused environment.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to translate technical research into clear narratives.
• Strong media network and demonstrated success in securing high‑quality press coverage.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet tight deadlines.
