Cybersecurity Engineer (Public Sector)

About the role

This 1‑year renewable contract position supports a government project, working in a hybrid environment. The Cybersecurity Engineer will apply core security principles to real‑world engineering challenges, gaining increasing independence across a range of security domains.

Key responsibilities

• Produce routine security reporting and dashboards, automating processes where possible.
• Review VAPT findings, validate vulnerabilities and help plan remediation.
• Maintain and refine incident‑response playbooks and contribute to compliance evidence collection.
• Apply security standards to CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes platforms and cloud environments.
• Support incident‑response activities, perform alert triage and assist investigations on SIEM/EDR platforms.
• Develop proof‑of‑concepts or features that balance security, performance and maintainability.
• Test emerging security tools in lab environments and summarise findings for POC initiatives.
• Collaborate with product, security and stakeholder teams, sharing knowledge and suggesting process improvements.

Required profile

• Foundational knowledge of security architecture, secure system design and threat modelling.
• Ability to validate vulnerabilities, support remediation and follow detection logic.
• Familiarity with securing CI/CD platforms, Kubernetes environments and cloud‑native services.
• Experience with developer‑centric tools, including AI‑assisted coding workflows.
• Understanding of IAM, secrets management and zero‑trust principles.
