Datacenter Technician

About the role

The Datacenter Technician will join a 24x7 data centre team to install, maintain and de‑commission IT hardware and cabling. You will work closely with network, SAN and customer teams to ensure reliable operations and timely delivery of projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform rack, stack and installation of servers, network and storage devices.
• Install, route and label copper (single‑mode, multi‑mode) and fibre cabling, including patch panels and trunking.
• Power up cabinets, configure iLO/iDRAC interfaces and run connectivity tests.
• Log work requests in DCRM, meet SLA timelines and update DCTracks and HRS.
• Troubleshoot hardware and cabling faults, replace NICs, SFPs, memory and drives.
• Participate in major incident bridges and provide clear status updates.
• Execute de‑commissioning, data wiping, shredding and disposal tracking.
• Manage hardware receiving, inventory control and inter‑site transfers.
• Coordinate with facilities for power work, floor‑tile and cable‑tray installations.
• Maintain compliance with safety, security and change‑management procedures.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in enterprise data‑centre operations.
• Ability to work in a 24x7 shift‑based environment.
• Strong attention to documentation and compliance.

Required skills

• Rack & stack and hardware installation.
• Copper and fibre cabling (single‑mode, multi‑mode).
• iLO / iDRAC management interfaces.
• Network connectivity testing (ping, etc.).
• Use of DCRM, DCTracks, HRS or equivalent asset systems.
• Hardware troubleshooting and component replacement.
