Head of Compliance, APAC Advanced Markets – Payments & Financial Services

About the role

The Head of Compliance, APAC Advanced Markets leads the regulatory compliance function for payments, lending, and other financial services across ByteDance's key APAC jurisdictions. Reporting to the Global Payment CCO, this senior leader ensures robust compliance frameworks while supporting business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end compliance oversight for payments, e‑money, lending, merchant acquiring, wallets, FX, remittance and related activities in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
• Design, implement and continuously improve a risk‑based compliance framework that aligns local regulations with ByteDance’s global standards.
• Develop and execute regional licensing strategies, including applications, renewals and ongoing supervisory obligations for all relevant financial licences.
• Lead regional compliance officers as primary points of contact with regulators, maintaining transparent and constructive relationships.
• Oversee AML/CFT and sanctions compliance programs, ensuring alignment with global policies and evolving regional regimes.
• Manage regulatory examinations, audits and supervisory reviews, translating findings into actionable policies and controls.

Required profile

• Senior leadership experience in regulatory compliance within payments or financial services.
• Proven track record of managing licensing processes and regulator relationships across multiple APAC jurisdictions.
• Deep understanding of AML/CFT, sanctions regimes and financial services regulations.
• Strong judgment, communication skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
