Legal AI Subject Matter Expert (Attorney) – Remote Contractor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our AI data services team as a remote, hourly contractor. You will act as a Legal Subject Matter Expert, reviewing AI‑generated legal responses, creating high‑quality legal content, and providing detailed feedback to improve model performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training content such as prompts, issue analyses, drafting examples, checklists, policies, and memos.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses for correctness, clarity, defensibility, and risk awareness.
• Test AI outputs for inaccuracies, over‑confidence, confidentiality risks, and bias, ensuring reliability across legal scenarios.

Required profile

• JD/LLB (or equivalent) with active bar membership (or eligibility) in at least one jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of professional legal practice in any sector (law firm, in‑house, government, or legal aid).
• Strong issue‑spotting and structured legal analysis skills (rule → application → conclusion).
• Demonstrated experience in at least one practice area (e.g., contracts, employment, privacy, corporate, litigation, IP, real estate, compliance).
• Excellent research, drafting, and editing abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Minimum C1 English proficiency and ability to work independently.
