Assistant Director – Legal Division (2-year Contract)

About the role

You will work closely with IPTO’s operational divisions to provide legal advice, represent the agency in legal proceedings, prosecute offences within IPTO’s remit, and contribute to legislative and law reform initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Advise bankruptcy and corporate insolvency case administrators on legal and operational matters as an Assistant Official Assignee/Receiver.
• Provide guidance on public trustee issues, including distribution of un‑nominated CPF monies and small estates.
• Handle criminal prosecutions, including trial preparation and representation, as a Prosecuting Officer.
• Advise the Registrar of Moneylenders and Registrar of Pawnbrokers on licensing and regulatory matters.
• Draft and review legal documents, charging and sentencing positions, and support law reform projects.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with 4–6 years of post‑qualification experience, especially in civil advisory and litigation.
• Strong analytical abilities and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Motivated team player with solid organisational and project‑management capabilities.
• Interest or experience in insolvency‑related work is a plus.
• Ability to distil critical issues and develop effective legal solutions.
