Legal Counsel

About the role

OPay is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to manage litigation and provide comprehensive legal support across its fintech operations in emerging markets. The role involves close collaboration with business units to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with local and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Handle litigation cases involving the company and related legal matters.
• Assist business departments with front‑to‑back process risk controls, offering professional legal opinions and advice.
• Track ongoing cases, maintain a cross‑border litigation case management system, and prepare updates and exposure reports for senior leadership.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned by senior leaders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law with at least 5 years of legal experience, including a minimum of 3 years in litigation.
• Fluency in both Mandarin and English for document review and stakeholder communication.
• Passed the local legal professional qualification examination.
• Strong judgment, logical analysis, and coordination abilities.
• Positive, proactive attitude and ability to work well in a team.
